Contrary to previous reports, former WEC lightweight champion “Razor” Rob McCullough will no longer be taking on Marcus Hicks at WEC 38. His manager, Ken Pavia, stated that the turnaround time for McCullough to fight on a January 25th card would be too short. McCullough just lost a grueling unanimous decision to Donald Cerrone at WEC 36 on November 5th.
McCullough, once considered the class of the WEC’s 155-pound division, has dropped two of his last three bouts. His career seemed to spiral downward after he lost his title to Jamie Varner earlier this year. Prior to that knockout loss, he had won his previous nine bouts.
Pavia confirmed McCullough’s withdrawal from the card with FiveOuncesOfPain.com.
The event is scheduled to take place on January 25th at the San Diego Sports Arena in San Diego, California.
