The Nevada State Athletic Commission announced that six fighters that participated on this past Wednesday’s WEC 37 event have received medical suspensions for various injuries sustained during their respective bouts. Main event fighter Manny Tapia is suspended until January 18th, with no contact until January 3rd. Tapia received multiple facial lacerations in his loss to bantamweight champion Miguel Torres.
Akitoshi Tamura was suspended for the same amount of time as Tapia, for the same reasons.
Wagnney Fabiano was suspended until December 18th, with no contact until December 11th for a contusion under his left eye.
WEC newcomer Joseph Benavidez is suspended until December 18th, with no contact until December 11th due to a lower lip laceration he suffered in his unanimous decision victory over Danny Martinez.
Johny Hendricks is suspended until December 18th, with no contact until December 11th due to an eye injury.
Lastly, Cub Swanson has been suspended until January 3rd, with no contact until December 25th with a left hand injury.WEC 37 took place Wednesday night at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada.
