UFC Light Heavyweight Mauricio Shogun Rua

First Wanderlei Silva, now you can add Mauricio “Shogun” Rua and his older brother Murilo “Ninja” Rua to the list of MMA fighters to leave the once illustrious Chute Boxe Team.

The Rua brothers made their announcement official on Tuesday and all parties have proclaimed the split amicable. They intend to start their own MMA Team in Massachusetts.

“We regret the departure of Mauricio and Murilo Rua,” Longtime Chute Boxe trainer Rudimar Fedrigo said in a statement on Tuesday.

“They are fighters born here at Chute Boxe and left the team to form their own in the United States. Remember that the doors of Chute Boxe will always be open to both, and I wish good luck and success in their new job,” Fedrigo continued.

It was under the tutelage of Fedrigo, amongst other top notch Chute Boxe trainers, where Shogun enjoyed most of his success thus far in his career.

Many speculated this move was inevitable with Silva’s departure about five months back.

It will be interesting to see if and how one of MMA’s most intimidating teams ever assembled will recover from enormous losses is such a short period of time.
