Lost in the madness that was “UFC 110: Nogueira vs. Velasquez,” the organization quietly announced that street fighting legend Kevin “Kimbo Slice” Ferguson will be taking on Matt Mitrione at UFC 113 on May 8th in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.

The heavyweights are somewhat familiar with each other as they both served as contestants on last season’s “The Ultimate Fighter: Heavyweights” reality show.

UFC president Dana White hinted at the possibility of the contest during a UFC 109 pre-fight presser a month ago, however the organization finally confirmed the scrap over the weekend, pushing the fight card to seven confirmed bouts.

Slice cemented a spot in the organization after making Houston Alexander look like a shell of his former self at the TUF 10 finale, while Mitrione continued to impress UFC brass by beating Marcus Jones that same evening.

“I thought Houston Alexander would win that fight,” White said. “Kimbo Slice beat a guy I consider a real guy, a guy who’s fought some good guys and beaten them. [Alexander] knocked out Keith Jardine. He knocked out Alessio Sakara.”

Mitrione was one of the most controversial fighters on last season’s edition of the reality show due to his unwillingness to train through “injuries” for Team Rashad, while Slice proved some doubters wrong as he maintained a positive attitude and improved his MMA game on Team Rampage.

Lyoto Machida is expected to defend his UFC light heavyweight title against Mauricio “Shogun” Rua in the night’s featured bout. The meeting will hopefully put an end to the controversy surrounding the unanimous decision that Machida stole from Shogun at their UFC 104 meeting back in October.

All of the fights below have been confirmed by the organization:

TJ Grant vs. Johny Hendricks
Marcus Davis vs. Jonathan Goulet
Tim Credeur vs. Tom Lawlor
Patrick Cote vs. Alan Belcher
Sam Stout vs. Jeremy Stephens
Kevin “Kimbo Slice” Ferguson vs. Matt Mitrione
Josh Koscheck vs. Paul Daley
Mauricio “Shogun” Rua vs. Lyoto Machida (UFC Light Heavyweight Champion)
