Tito Ortiz Signs With Affliction As Commentator

When a press release was sent out earlier this week by the PR people over at Affliction Entertainment many believed that the announcement of Tito Ortiz’ appearance at today’s press conference would be the confirmation of him signing with the promotion. Well, everybody was half right as Ortiz did sign with Affliction, but only to be a color commentator for their up “Day of Reckoning” event.

Ortiz said today that he still has obligations under his contract with the UFC that he must live up to, but that it only runs until June of 2009.

MMAJunkie learned from Ortiz himself that he will not be paid for his broadcasting duties on January 24th but he is willing to do it because, “(commentating is) something I’ve always wanted to do.”

Ortiz did leave the door open that after his contractual obligations with the UFC are done he could fight for Affliction and that he still feels he has four good years left before he calls it quits.
