It appears that former UFC middleweight and welterweight Diego Sanchez will be making his lightweight debut against Joe Stevenson at UFC 95.  Last week, UFC president Dana White confirmed Sanchez’ move to the lower weight class.  It will mark the third UFC division that Sanchez has competed in.

After being crowned the middleweight winner of the inaugural season of the “Ultimate Fighter,” Sanchez immediately dropped down to the welterweight division. There he won seven of his next nine bouts, however seemed over matched when he faced the division’s larger and stronger fighters.

By no means will Sanchez be easing himself into the division. Although Stevenson lost his last bout to Kenny Florian at UFC 91, he is still considered one of the division’s top competitors.

UFC 95 is scheduled to take place on February 21st at the O2 Arena in London, England.

This bout was first reported by Sherdog.com which said that Sanchez has verbally agreed to the bout, however no fight agreements have been signed by either party.
