WEC featherweight champion Mike Brown will be making his first ever title defense against Leonard Garcia. Both fighters have verbally agreed to the bout, which will take place sometime in March. Fight agreements should be signed shortly.
Brown is currently riding an eight-fight winning streak, including his 1stRound TKO of WEC golden boy Urijah Faber at WEC 36 in November.
Since the upset, the American Top Team fighter has been recovering from a torn rib cage that he suffered during the bout. The injury caused him to be out 4-6 weeks, however he will be fully headed in time to take on the Jackson Submission trained fighter.
Garcia, thought by many as the division’s top contender, is coming off of a dominating performance against former UFC champion Jens Pulver on the same November card. He showed a sharp and powerful stand up game, knocking out the MMA veteran in the 1stRound.
