UFC heavyweight Brandon Vera is on the verge of finalizing a contract extension with the UFC. Vera, who has only one fight remaining on his current deal, is rumored to be taking on Mike Patt at UFC 96 on March 7th.
These contract negotiations seem to be going much more smoothly for the Filipino fighter than the last time he was set to re-up.
After winning his first 4 UFC bouts before the final bell, including a dominating win over former UFC champion Frank Mir in November of 2006, Vera was left sitting idle for nearly a year as he was engulfed in a bitter contact dispute.
After he and the UFC came to terms, Vera lost three of his last four bouts inside of the Octagon, including a split decision loss to Keith Jardine in the light heavyweight division at UFC 89.
FiveOuncesOfPain.com was the first to report Vera’s contract extension, and bout with Patt.
UFC 96 will be taking place at the Nationwide Arena in Columbus, Ohio.
