Mir Eyes Brock Lesnar Next

By defeating Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira at UFC 92, Frank Mir accomplished two things. First, he did what nobody had ever done before, including Fedor Emelianenko, and that’s stop Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira. Secondly, he ensured himself another fight against Brock Lesnar to find out who the true UFC heavyweight champion is.

The first time Mir met Lesnar was at UFC 81, and the newcomer almost had Mir stopped until the veteran got a hold of one of Lesnar’s legs and forced him to submit due to a kneebar in the 1stRound.

Both fighters expect things to be different this time though.

After beating Nogueira, Mir quickly looked for Lensar in the crowd and pointed directly at him and said, “you got your match. You got my belt!”

Lesnar holds the “actual” UFC heavyweight title, while Mir has the “interim” tag attached to his. Clearly, the “interim” title isn’t enough for Mir though.

Following his win on Saturday, he told the UFC’s Joe Rogan, “Lesnar has the belt, I don’t want any of this [stuff] where I’m a half of a champ, I beat Nogueira and he beat a champion in Randy Couture. We’ll see if he can get out of the first round. But hey, this time we’ll make him famous on the break that I do to him.”

Mir could be eluding to the fact that Tim Sylvia is most known for getting his arm broken by Mir in the UFC. Whatever the case may be, Lesnar will get another shot at Mir and Mir will get a chance to win back the title that he never really lost.
