Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira is one of the best heavyweight fighters of all-time. Regardless of what happened at UFC 92 his credentials are unquestioned. He must now look to work his way back into the title picture, and the first step in doing that could be by facing another former champion in Randy Couture.
When Nogueira was the interim UFC heavyweight champion and Couture was retired, Couture had no interest in fighting Nogueira because he felt that he had nothing to prove and continued to push for a fight with Fedor Emelianenko.
The interesting thing is that Nogueira is probably the best heavyweight not named Fedor. Now it seems like a legitimate possibility that Couture could face Nogueira next.
Couture has also hinted at the possibility of dropping back down to light heavyweight if the right opportunity presented itself. But lets be real about it, he’s the UFC’s biggest draw in the heavyweight division and there are plenty of fights for him if he remains in that weight class.
