With less than a month to go until his highly anticipated rematch with BJ Penn, UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre has his sights set on finishing his rival this time around. GSP holds a controversial win over the highly decorated Brazilian Jiu Jitsu wizard, however he intends to leave no doubt come UFC 95.
“This time, I want to go for the finish,” St. Pierre told Sherdog.com. “I don’t want to go to a decision. I want to take him out.”
GSP will be riding a four-fight winning streak into his third fight has a title holder. If he is able to successfully defend his title against Penn, there is already an opponent waiting for his crack at the 170-pound belt in Thiago Alves.
Although GSP had nothing but complimentary words for Alves’ accomplishments in the Octagon, he is squarely focused Penn at this point in time.
“The way he beat Josh Koscheck was very impressive, and it proved he’s a very serious contender for the title,” St. Pierre said. “Right now, I’m focusing on BJ Penn. When the time [comes to face Alves], I truly believe that I’m a better fighter than he is, but there’s only one way to find out.”
