Veteran UFC fighter Josh Neer was arrested early Thursday morning by police in Des Moines, Iowa. Polk County (Iowa) records indicate that he was charged with a second-offense operating while intoxication charge, and eluding while more than 25 miles-per-hour in excess of the speeding limit.
Neer was released on a $7,000 bond sometime around 9AM New Year’s morning and will face a future court date.
The Des Moines Register indicated that Neer was allegedly involved in a three-car collision at a stoplight before attempting to elude police on a high-speed chase.
The report states that police attempted to stop Neer’s car by hitting the back quarter panel of the car with a squad car. His Audi spun around, but he then was able to regain control. The chase eventually wound up on Interstate 80, reportedly reaching speeds in excess of 100 mph in a 65 mph speed zone.
The chase finally ended at mile marker 137, where police arrested Neer.
Neer currently holds a 24-7-1 professional record and is slated to face Mac Danzig at “UFC Fight Night 17″ at the USF Sun Dome on February 7th in Tampa, Florida.
