“The Ultimate Fighter 8” lightweight winner Efrain Escudero will make his first official Octagon appearance as a UFC fighter on April 1st against Jeremy Stephens at “UFC Fight Night 18.” The location of the event has yet to be determined.
MMAWeekly.com confirmed with sources close to the situation that both fighters have verbally agreed to the bout, however fight contracts have yet to be signed.
Escudero was very impressive in the “TUF 8 Finale” against Phillipe Nover. He was able to use his superior wrestling skills to dominate the matchup, walking away with an easy unanimous decision, as well as the six-figure UFC contract.
Stephens is by no means a slouch, especially for Escudero’s debut. He has won four of his last five fights, including an impressive 3rdRound knockout of Rafael dos Anjos at UFC 91 in his last bout.
