Reigning Strikeforce heavyweight champion and Japanese superstar Alistair Overeem states that he and his representatives are currently in talks with the UFC and Affliction to fight for their respective promotions.

“My management has been in contact with Affliction as well as the UFC,” Overeem stated after his New Year’s Eve kickboxing bout against Badr Hari at “K-1 Dynamite!! 2008.

Overeem has mentioned on multiple occasions his desire to take on WAMMA heavyweight champion Fedor Emelianenko, also a former PrideFC fighter. Although the two spent many years with the Japanese organization, they were never able to face-off in the ring.

The Dutch fighter is also interested in joining the UFC, not only for the unmatched exposure that the organization can provide him, but also for a crack at UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar.
