UFC 96 is starting to take shape rather nicely, as the organization has added its third bout in the past two days. On Saturday, it was reported that Kendall Grove would be making his return to the Octagon to face Jason Day, and today it was reported that Gray Maynard will be taking on Jim Miller in a lightweight battle, as well as submission specialist Dustin Hazelett facing Ben Saunders.
Maynard still holds a perfect 6-0 record, with his last two victories coming against two solid opponents in Frankie Edgar and most recently Rich Clementi at UFC 90.
Jim Miller has made quite a splash since joining the UFC. He is 2-0 inside the Octagon and 13-1 overall. He was dominant in his most recent victory against Matt Wiman at “UFC Fight for the Troops.”
Miller took that fight on just a few weeks notice, and only two months rest, as he had just defeated David Baron at UFC 89 in his debut for the organization.
Hazelett is riding a two-fight winning streak, with both wins coming via submissions that earned him a total of $105,000 in “Submission of the Night” honors. Of his 12 wins, nine have come via submissions.
Saunders looked exceptional in his bout against Brandon Wolff just last month. He too is undefeated, however his first two professional bouts resulted in draws. Saunders will look to add another “W” to his 7-0-2 mark.
