Despite his New Year’s Day arrest for a second-offense of operating while intoxicated charge, and eluding police while driving more than 25 miles-per-hour in excess of the speeding limit, UFC lightweight Josh Neer will still be facing Mac Danzig at “UFC Fight Night 17” on February 7th as scheduled.
Mickey Dubberly, the CEO of Neer’s management team at KO Dynasty, confirmed that the 155-pounder will be ready to fight at the USF Sun Dome in Tampa, Florida.
“Josh will be fighting Mac Danzig Feb. 7 in the co-main event in Tampa as scheduled,” Dubberly told MMAjunkie.com. “Josh has been training very hard for this fight and is looking forward to putting on a great fight for the UFC and fans. Josh would like to once again thank his family, fans, friends, training partners, UFC and everyone that has supported him through his career.”
Early New Year’s Morning, Neer was arrested by police in Des Moines, Iowa. Polk County (Iowa) records indicated that Neer was allegedly involved in a three-car collision at a stoplight before attempting to elude police on a high-speed chase.
He was eventually stopped and arrested. Around 9AM that day, Neer was released on $7,000 bond, and has a future court date looming.
