Former two-time UFC light heavyweight champion Matt Hughes stated on his blog that the organization has presented him with the opportunity to settle his ongoing fued with Matt Serra in May. Hughes has been recovering from a left knee injury he suffered in his loss to Thiago Alves at UFC 85 back in June.

“(I) just got a call from (UFC matchmaker) Joe Silva, and as of right now it looks like I’ll be fighting Matt Serra in Vegas on May 23rd,” Hughes stated on his official blog. “This is not 100% confirmed, but I believe it is going to be on this date.”

The two coached opposite each other on the sixth season of the hit reality show “The Ultimate Fighter.” They were initially scheduled to settle their differences at UFC 79 in December of 2007, however Serra was forced to withdraw due to a back injury.

It was initially thought that Hughes would require surgery on his injured knee, which would have sidelined him for over nine months. However after several x-rays and MRIs, doctors discovered that surgery would not be needed.

Now with both fighters finally healthy, they will finally get the opportunity to settle their differences in the Octagon.
