Money Well Spent

UFC president Dana White stated that the organization spent an unprecedented $1.7 Million to produce their new “UFC Primetime: St-Pierre vs. Penn” series to promote the upcoming welterweight showdown between champion Georges St-Pierre and BJ Penn at UFC 94. Their investment has paid off, as the first of the three part series drew in a total of almost 1.5 million viewers.

Part 1’s 30-minute episode was aired last night on Spike TV, with the remaining two episodes airing on the Wednesdays leading up to their highly anticipated rematch on January 31st.

According to Spike TV officials, the premier debuted to an audience of 880,000 viewers. The network replayed the episode immediately following the premier, drawing an additional 614,000 viewers, for a total of 1,494,000 viewers.
