UFC welterweight Ben Saunders has just put his body through the most rigorous training camp of his young career, and the American Top Team-trained fighter couldn’t be any more pleased.
Saunders will meet the gritty Jake Ellenberger at “UFC 111: St-Pierre vs. Hardy” on March 27th, the organization’s biggest fight card of 2010.
The 26-year-old owns an impressive 8-1-2 professional record and has posted devastating finishes in seven of those victories. “Killa B” was last seen unleashing a vicious barrage of knees on Marcus Davis at UFC 106 this past November, putting the former boxer to sleep in the 1stRound of their tango.
The former “The Ultimate Fighter 6” contestant sat down with 5thRound.com this week for an exclusive interview to discuss the impact martial arts legend Bruce Lee has had in his life, Saunders’ impending showdown with Ellenberger and a UFC 111 prediction you have to hear.
Below are just a few of the MMA funnyman’s comments on 5thRoundRadio:
His unpredictable style, courtesy of Mr. Lee’s Jeet Kune Do philosophy:
“I’m very unorthodox. I don’t think I’ve fought the same in any fight I’ve ever had. I’ve created my style to be able to win no matter where the fight is held.”
Big Ben gives props to Ellenberger’s game, however it’s not his time just yet:
“For those that don’t know who [Jake Ellenberger] is, he is probably going to make a splash in this sport or make a name for himself. Unfortunately I don’t believe that’s going to be on March 27th.”
Saunders came through with the quote of the week when asked what he thought was going to take place inside the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey:
“You will see me either knockout, TKO or possibly take Jake Ellenberger’s arm home with me.”
