The WEC has released the finalized lineup for their WEC 39 event scheduled for March 1st. The organization has decided to treat MMA fans by airing five bouts on the Versus Network, one of which will include champ Mike Brown making his first ever featherweight title defense against Leonard Garcia.
Brown is currently riding an eight-fight winning streak, including his 1stRound TKO of WEC golden boy Urijah Faber at WEC 36 in November.
Since the upset, the American Top Team fighter has been recovering from a torn rib cage that he suffered during the bout. The injury caused him to be out 4-6 weeks, however he will be fully healed in time to take on the Jackson Submission trained fighter.
Garcia, thought by many as the division’s top contender, is coming off of a dominating performance against former UFC champion Jens Pulver on the same November card. He showed a sharp and powerful stand up game, knocking out the MMA veteran in the 1stRound.
Here is the official lineup that the fans inside of the American Bank Center in Corpus Christi, Texas will be treated to:
Kenji Osawa vs. Rafael Rebello
Phil Cardella vs. Danny Castillo
Alex Karalexis vs. Greg McIntyre
Justin Haskins vs. Mike Pierce
