After the conclusion of Affliction’s”Day of Reckoning” event this past weekend, vice president Tom Atencio considered their encore promotion “a success” and stated that he “couldn’t have been any happier” with how the night turned out. Although their initial attendance numbers were down from their debut event, “Banned,” Atencio feels that Affliction is here to stay.
At the post-fight press conference, Atencio announced that the preliminary attendance for their “Day of Reckoning” event was 13,228. This is a fairly significant drop of 11% from their debut promotion, which was also held at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California last July.
The California State Athletic Commission will confirm the official gate attendance, as well as gate ticket sales, within the week.
On July 19, “Affliction: Banned” drew in a total attendance of 14,832, which was good for a live gate ticket total of $2,085,510.
On Saturday night, Atencio sat down for an exclusive interview with FiveOuncesofPain to discuss the event, the night’s attendance, pay-per-view buys and the future of the organization.
