After a spectacular night of fights at “UFC 111: St-Pierre vs. Hardy,” company president Dana White awarded four contestants an extra $65,000 each for their special performances inside the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey.
UFC light heavyweights Jared Hamman and Rodney Wallace battled for 15 grueling minutes to earn Fight of the Night honors. It was a decent consolation prize for Wallace, as Hamman edged him for a unanimous decision victory.
Kurt Pellegrino pocketed his bonus after catching Fabricio Camoes in a rear-naked choke at 4:20 in the 2ndRound of their lightweight affair.
Not only did Shane Carwin capture the interim heavyweight title with a 1stRound knockout of former two-time champion Frank Mir, but he also left the Jersey Shore with an extra $65K for his efforts.
After collecting his 12th consecutive 1stRound knockout, Carwin has now assured himself a summer showdown with champion Brock Lesnar.
