Following the UFC’s first-ever event in Tampa, Florida, the organization handed out fight bonuses to four fighters for their special performances at “UFC Fight Night 17.” The fans inside of the USF Sun Dome witnessed Joe Lauzon dominate Jermey Stephens, ultimately submitting the last-minute replacement in the 2ndRound of their bout. The arm bar earned Lauzon an additional $30,000 for Submission of the Night honors.
Josh Neer and Mac Danzig’s action packed fight earned the two $30,000 each for Fight of the Night. Neer was aggressive as usual, eventually submitting Danzig in the 2ndRound via triangle choke.
Cain Velasquez earned himself Knockout of the Night with his 2ndRound TKO of UFC newcomer Denis Stojnic. Velasquez not only earned an additional $30,000 for his efforts, but most importantly he continues to work his way up the heavyweight ladder.
For last week’s UFC 94 pay-per-view event, the organization awarded only $65,000 in fight bonuses.
