Shannon Gugerty will be forced to withdraw from his UFC 95 bout against Jeff Lawson. Gugerty suffered a herniated disc in his neck that will sideline him for an extended period of time. With the fight just 10 days away, the UFC may choose not to find a replacement and have the card reduced to 10 bouts. It was to be Lawson’s Octagon debut.
“[Gugerty] has a herniated disc in his neck that was giving him pain in his shoulder blade and arm,” Gugerty’s manager, Jeff Clark, told MMAJunkie. “I think it’s between his C6 and C7 discs. It’s giving him pain down his arm. He’s just got to recover from that.”
Clark stated that there is no time line for his client’s return.
“His return is kind of up in the air,” said Clark. “He’s doing physical therapy on that and seeing all the doctors. He’ll be back fighting as soon as possible.”
