UFC champion Georges St-Pierre made a brief cameo this morning on ESPN’s SportsCenter to promote his welterweight title defense against Dan Hardy at UFC 111.
St-Pierre didn’t provide much more insight than his standard spiel (“This is the toughest fight of my career, you will see the best Georges St-Pierre ever on Saturday, etc.”), but he did offer a new soundbite when he presented his only options of leaving the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey.
“There are two things in my mind that can happen on Saturday. I will win and maybe celebrate with my friends, or I will win and end up in the hospital, that’s it,” St-Pierre emphatically stated.
Expectations are once again high for the world’s best 170-pounder, as he enters the Octagon an 8-to-1 favorite to make his fourth consecutive successful title defense.
GSP stakes claim to a dominant 19-2 mark and has rattled off six consecutive wins, all of which have been resounding victories against the division’s elite.
Hardy owns a respectable 23-6 record and will be riding a seven-fight win streak into his first title bout.
