Earlier this month, UFC president Dana White stated that along with the organization’s efforts to invade Japan, he also intended to recruit some of their fighters to compete inside of the Octagon. It now appears that Caol Uno will be making his return to the UFC to take on Spencer Fisher at UFC 99.
“Caol Uno, I love him,” White said a few weeks ago about the 33-year-old. “He’ll always be a part of the UFC.”
From 2001-2003, Uno compiled a 3-3-1 record in the UFC including an infamous draw with current lightweight champion BJ Penn at UFC 41.
MMAJunkie.com is reporting that both fighters have verbally agreed to the bout and fight contracts should be signed shortly.
UFC 99 will be taking place at the Lanxess Arena in Cologne, Germany. It will mark the UFC’s first-ever event in Germany.
