Ealier this month, WAMMA heavyweight champion Fedor Emelianenko stated that he and his team have scheduled a formal sit down with UFC president Dana White this June, at around the same time his contract with Affliction Entertainment expires. White is unaware of such a meeting.
“…me and my management hope to get a chance to talk to Dana White in person in June to discuss a possible fight between me and Brock (Lesnar),” Emelianenko stated.
That was new news, if not great news, to White.
“No,” White responded when asked if the June conference was on his calendar. “If that’s true, that’s awesome. I’d have to hear that from him to believe it. But if that’s true, I’d love to meet with him. I’d love to.”
The Russian currently holds wins over five former UFC heavyweight champions, leaving many to believe that he has cemented his place atop the list of the world’s best 265-pound champions.
White would be more than happy to put that theory to the test.
“I’ve said this a million times, if Fedor’s guys want to talk to me, I’m here,” White said.
White claims that he wants Emelianenko so badly that he is willing to allow him to instantly leapfrog him into a title bout.
“I’d bring him right in and he’d get an immediate title shot,” White professed.
Whether there was a misunderstanding about a summer meeting with White, or it was just wishful thinking, it seems as though these two mega-forces are headed on a collission course, with all MMA fans walking away victorious.
