Roy Jones Jr. and his Square Ring Promotions company’s has confirmed that, due to undisclosed reasons, MMA heavyweight Seth Petruzelli has withdrawn from his bout against Doug Marshall on their boxing/MMA hybrid promotion, “March Badness.” The Bobby Lashley vs. Ken Shamrock bout has been promoted to the night’s MMA main event.

RJJ’s March 21st promotion will mark the first hybrid event of this magnitude. The former eight-time boxing champion will headline the night’s pay-per-view card against Omar Sheika.

Shamrock finally ended his four-fight losing streak by defeating Ross Clifton just last month. His previous losing streak ran for almost five years.

“Lashley got things going in wrestling and then the WWE. Now he’s in MMA,” Shamrock said of his opponent. “He’s very good. I think he’s 270-pounds of muscle — quick, explosive and strong. The area he lacks, ground skills, he makes up for with his strength and ability to move on the ground.

“He can really move on his feet. This isn’t a fat guy laying on his back.”

Lashley, a former WWE employee and two-time NAIA national wrestling champion, originally made his MMA debut this past December where he posted an impressive 41-second TKO of Joshua Franklin.

“I am excited to be part of this card alongside Roy Jones, Jr. and Square Ring Promotions,” said Lashley. “I am looking forward to fighting an experienced opponent like Ken Shamrock and showing the fans that Bobby Lashley is a force to be reckoned with in the heavyweight division. I am going to come out from the opening bell and show Ken Shamrock and the rest of the world that Bobby Lashley is not someone you want to mess with.”

The American Top Team trained fighter will be facing one of MMA’s pioneers and a UFC Hall of Famer. The 45-year-old Shamrock was riding a four-and-a-half-year losing streak, however managed to finally get off of the snide after posting a 1stRound TKO over Ross Clifton.

Also competing on the MMA side of the event will be former UFC heavyweight Jeff Monson taking on IFL heavyweight champion Roy Nelson.

There is no word whether RJJ and Co. will attempt to find a last-minute replacement for Petruzelli.

The pay-per-view event will be held at the Pensacola Civic Center in Pensacola, Florida.
