UFC welterweight Thiago Alves went under the knife yesterday to have an abnormality on the left side of his brain corrected. Following the successful procedure, the Brazilian released an exclusive video where he takes fans through his frightening day.

Although Alves was moments from undergoing the most dangerous surgery of his career, he humbly thanked UFC brass for their undying support throughout this disappointing process and promised fans he’ll return to the Octagon badder than ever.

“I’ll be back and I’m gonna kick a lot of ass for you guys,” Alves emphatically stated.

Alves was forced out of his rematch against Jon Fitch at UFC 111 this past Saturday after a CT Scan revealed an “irregularity” in his brain. The American Top Team trained fighter had no choice but to withdraw just 50 hours before showtime.

When TMZ.com first broke the news, UFC president Dana White claimed Alves’ condition could “be career-ending.” Thankfully, that’s not the case, as the 26-year-old was told by doctors he could resume training in just a few weeks.
