Strikeforce has decided to add another undercard bout to their “Strikeforce: Nashville” event on April 17th. The final preliminary fight will feature the popular Jason “Mayhem” Miller.
MMAJunkie was the first to report that the former PrideFC, Dream and UFC middleweight would be taking on the relatively unknown Tim Stout during the non-televised portion of the CBS broadcast.
In addition to being infamous for his extravagant ring/cage entrances, Miller has also gained notoriety through his “Bully Beatdown” show on MTV.
If one or more of the three championship bouts currently scheduled for the primetime event were to end early, expect a replay of the Miller vs. Stout contest to be aired during the CBS broadcast.
Both Miller and Stout are coming off of losses, although Miller’s was in a title fight against current middleweight champion Jake Shields at “Strikeforce: Fedor vs. Rogers.”
Many have questioned Strikeforce’s decision to only run with three televised fights for their second CBS show, but it makes perfectly good sense considering there are three title scraps on the card that could go 5Rounds.
Also, expect for there to be plenty of commercials in between bouts to ensure Strikeforce can pay their bills.
Here’s how the updated “Strikeforce: Nashville” card looks:
Justin Pennington vs. Dustin Ortiz
Hunter Worsham vs. Zach Underwood
Thomas Campbell vs. Cody Floyd
Andy Uhrich vs. Dustin West
Josh Shockman vs. Cale Yarbrough
Chris Hawk vs. Ovince St. Preux
Tim Stout vs. Jason “Mayhem” Miller
Shinya Aoki vs. Gilbert Melendez (Strikeforce Lightweight Champion)
Muhammed “King Mo” Lawal vs. Gegard Mousasi (Strikeforce Light Heavyweight Champion)
Dan Henderson vs. Jake Shields (Strikeforce Middleweight Champion)
