Howard Declines Bout Against Johnson

It appears that the welterweight bout between John Howard and Anthony Johnson will no longer be taking place at The Ultimate Fighter 9 Finale.

It takes two to tango, and according to FiveOuncesofPain, Johnson was left to dance a solo. The website confirmed with sources close to Johnson that although he agreed to the bout, Howard failed to turn in his bout agreement.

In his Octagon debut, Howard squeaked out a close split decision victory over Chris Wilson at UFC 94. It is unclear why the UFC never heard back from the welterweight. Perhaps it got lost in the mail.

Johnson remains a fast rising star in one of the UFC’s deepest divisions. It is highly possible they will still want to showcase him on the June 20th event, however no opponents have yet to surface.
