Strikeforce has finally found an opponent to face former EliteXC heavyweight Brett Rogers on their “Shamrock vs. Diaz” event. Ron Humphries has agreed to exchange leather with the former tire repairman at the April 11th promotion.
FiveOuncesOfPain has confirmed with sources close to Rogers that the battle will indeed be on, however is still pending the California State Athletic Commission’s approval.
Both fighters will be putting their undefeated records on the line during the televised portion of the Showtime event.
Rogers holds an 8-0 record, with his last three coming inside of the EliteXC cage. He is clearly the more polished of the two fighters, however hasn’t faced the level of competition that would legitimize himself as one of the world’s top heavyweights.
His bout against Humphries will certainly not change that. Humphries was a former contestant on BET’s Iron Ring reality show. He boasts a 5-0 record, however all of his wins have come against c-level opponents.
Here are the bouts that will be taking place inside of the cage at the HP Pavilion in San Jose, California:
Raul Castillo vs. Brandon Michaels
Jeremy Tavares vs. Shingo Kohara
James Terry vs. Zak Bucia
Eric Lawson vs. Richard Montoya
Luke Rockhold vs. Buck Meredith
Brett Rogers vs. Ron Humphries
Scott Smith vs. Benji Radach
Cristiane “Cyborg” Santos vs. Hitomi Akano
Gilbert Melendez vs. Josh Thomson (Strikeforece Lightweight Champion)
Frank Shamrock vs. Nick Diaz (Catch-Weight of 179 Pounds)
