According to Dave Meltzer of Yahoo! Sports Frank Shamrock has agreed to face Cung Le on March 29th in a co-promotional event between Strikeforce and EliteXC.
Le confirmed he would be fighting sometime early in the New Year when we spoke to him, but he wasn’t sure if Shamrock wanted to first avenge his loss to Renzo Gracie or accept Le’s challenge.
“Whenever it [the fight with Frank Shamrock] is I’ll be prepared because for me, I stay in shape year round,” Le told us.
Rumors were making their way around the Internet when Gary Shaw mentioned he wanted to put together a Shamrock vs. Shamrock match, but it looks like that bout will be pushed back into sometime in 2009 if at all.
The history between Le and Shamrock started all the way back in the late 90’s when Le used to spar with Shamrock to help him train for the likes of Tito Ortiz and other well known Japanese fighters.
Both fighters mutually respected each other for many years to come, but it wasn’t until a comment made by Shamrock on the ‘Cage Side Live Radio Show’ when Le to want to step into the cage with him.
Now it looks like the score will finally be settled.
