Known as one of the hardest working fighters in all of MMA, Bellator Fighting Championships’ Bao Quach is ready to prove his dedication will help him capture this season’s featherweight tournament.

After starting his career with an unimpressive 6-8-1 record, Quach went against the advice of those closest to him and decided to reel-off nine straight wins instead of calling it quits.

“I just believed that I was better than what my record showed,” Quach told 5thRound.com in an exclusive interview. “Regardless of what was happening in my fights, I knew that I could get better as long as I just stayed dedicated to my training.”

Now with a respectable 17-9-1 professional mixed martial arts record, Quach is ready to become a household name after joining the revamped Bellator organization.

“It’s one step at a time. That’s what’s good about the tournament setting,” Quach stated. “You can’t get too far ahead of yourself, especially if you win because you are going to have to go right back to work.

“But that’s a good thing. That’s what we do and want to do as fighters. It’s a good feeling to know exactly when your next fight is going to be.”

Quach’s first test comes tonight when he meets the relentless Georgi Karakhanyan in the opening round of the featherweight tourney. The Armenian owns a 12-1-1 pro mark and is riding an eight-fight winning streak into the contest.

“A fight is a fight, it doesn’t matter who it is,” Quach said of his opponent’s impressive record. “He can’t take those wins in there with him, that won’t do anything for him when we fight. Each fight is different and each opponent is different. We’ll just have to see what he tries to do, but I’ll be ready regardless.”

Bellator 13 will be jumping off inside the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Florida. The show will air on Fox Sports Net and will be headlined by former UFC lightweight Roger Huerta.
