Nobody will be pulling anything on Martin Kampmann this April Fool’s Day. He knows exactly how dangerous Carlos Condit is, however has all intentions of continuing his ascent up the UFC’s welterweight ladder.
“I’ve seen him fight in the WEC, I know he’s a tough guy,” Kampmann said of his April 1st opponent. “He’s been beating up guys in the WEC, so I thought it was a good fight. I thought we matched up well against each other. I think it should be a good fight for sure.”
Condit, considered in many MMA circles as a top ten 170-pounder, looked impressive in his 4thRound knockout of Hiromitsu Miura at WEC 35. He has won eight consecutive bouts, and is anxious to show his mettle in one of the UFC’s deepest divisions.
“I think we’ve both got good stand-up, and decent ground, I think we match up well,” Kampmann stated.
Expectations are running high for Condit as he is set to make his Octagon debut, with company president Dana White stating that the UFC rookie could very well find himself in a title match with a couple of impressive showings.
If that’s the case for Condit, imagine what could be in store for Kampmann if he is able to accomplish the same feat.
“Right now I’m just focusing on Condit, and we’ll worry about all the other guys afterwards,” stated the Xtreme Couture trained fighter.
This 170-pound scrap will headline UFC Fight Night 18, which can be seen for free on Spike TV tomorrow at 9PM EDT/PDT.
