Former X-Games skateboard medalist Mike Budnik has agreed to step in on just nine-day’s notice to take on Rafael Dias at WEC 40 after Cole Province was forced to pull out of the April 5th brawl due to an undisclosed injury.

Budnik shot out of the gates when he made his career change in 2007. He was perfect through his first seven fights, however has dropped his last two in the WEC. He most recently was caught on the wrong end of a split decision against John Franchie at WEC 39 earlier this month.

This will be Dias’ first fight since he lost to Danny Castillo at WEC 36 back in November. Although a modest 11-5-1 record isn’t anything to write mom about, he has finished in nine of those Ws.

WEC 40 will be headlined by bantamweight sensation Miguel Torres defending his strap against Takeya Mizugaki. You can catch the event for free on Versus Network at 9PM EDT/PDT.
