Today, Strikeforce announced some minor tweaks to their April 11th card, as well as confirmed that former EliteXC heavyweight Brett Rogers will indeed be taking on Ron Humphries on the Showtime event.
Rogers holds an 8-0 record, with his last three coming inside of the EliteXC cage. He is clearly the more polished of the two fighters, however hasn’t faced the level of competition that would legitimize himself as one of the world’s top heavyweights.
His bout against Humphries will certainly not change that. Humphries was a former contestant on BET’s Iron Ring reality show. He boasts a 5-0 record, however all of his wins have come against c-level opponents.
In addition to that heavyweight matchup, Waylon Kennell will step in for Richard Montoya to fight Eric Lawson, and a previously scheduled bout between Yohan Banks and Marcus Royster has been shelved completely.
Montoya withdrew for undisclosed reasons.
Here is how Strikeforce’s “Shamrock vs. Diaz” card now shapes up:
Raul Castillo vs. Brandon Michaels
Jeremy Tavares vs. Shingo Kohara
James Terry vs. Zak Bucia
Eric Lawson vs. Waylon Kennell
Luke Rockhold vs. Buck Meredith
Brett Rogers vs. Ron Humphries
Scott Smith vs. Benji Radach
Cristiane “Cyborg” Santos vs. Hitomi Akano
Gilbert Melendez vs. Josh Thomson (Strikeforece Lightweight Champion)
Frank Shamrock vs. Nick Diaz (Catch-Weight of 179 Pounds)
