Highly touted Gesias “JZ” Cavalcante has agreed to a fight Tatsuya Kawajiri at Dream.9. Although the May 26th event will feature the 2ndRound of the Featherweight Grand Prix, JZ will be a part of the handful of individual bouts hosted by the organization.
Sources from Cavalcante’s American Top Team camp confirmed their teammate’s participation in the night’s event.
Cavalcante holds an impressive 14-2-1 professional record, however will be looking to get off the snide after earning a no contest and a loss in his last two affairs.
Coincidentally, both of the Calvacante’s recent blemishes came at the hands of WAMMA lightweight champion Shinya Aoki, who slithered his way to a unanimous decision win over JZ in their last meeting at Dream.2 last April.
During his nine-year MMA career, Kawajiri has worked his way through multiple Japanese organizations, including PrideFC, Dream, as well as Shooto, where he was the lightweight title holder.
At 23-5-2, Kawajiri has been one of the more consistent fighters in the world over the years, and easily discarded of Ross Ebanez via rear-naked choke at Dream.7 earlier this month.
