According to the SportsBusiness Journal, the WEC and the Versus Network are closing in on a multi-year contract extension. Although specifics were not disclosed, it is believed that the deal will keep them partnered for another two years.

Versus began broadcasting UFC events in early 2007, and this extension will grant them very similar rights. However, a key component at the negotiating table this time around was for Versus to be able to air all of the preliminary matches on their website.

Fight fans can now watch all of the WEC dark matches on Versus.com for free.

The WEC has captured outstanding ratings for Versus. The organization’s June 2008 WEC: Faber vs. Pulver broadcast set an MMA ratings record for the network, earning a 1.4 rating and averaging 1.54 million viewers.

The Versus Network is currently available in approximately 75 million homes throughout the States.
