Even though the main event left a sour taste in a lot of mouths, the UFC can at least console themselves with the $3.5 million that UFC 112 pulled in at the gate.

According to UFC president Dana White, there were 11,008 people in attendance at the Concert Arena to see middleweight king Anderson Silva do his best Roy Jones Jr. impersonation.

Things weren’t all bad though, as we saw a new UFC lightweight champion crowned. Frankie Edgar, a 5-to-1 underdog by fight time, used a masterful gameplan to keep BJ Penn off balance for 5Rounds to take home a unanimous decision victory.

This was the first UFC event in the Middle East and could pave the way for another event in Afghanistan sometime during the summer.
