Randy “The Natural” Couture after defending his Heavyweight Title at UFC 74

According to a report that we came across at OddsPreview.com, the UFC and its parent company Zuffa, LLC are done playing nice with Randy Couture. Donald J. Campbell, the attorney representing the UFC said, “we are alleging numerous intentional torts, which have caused Zuffa and the UFC significant harm”. The UFC is looking for damages in excess of $10,000 because Couture’s comments over the past few months have, “caused the business irreparable damage.” UFC President Dana White has also chimed in on the lawsuit saying, “the hard part is that he is not living up to his obligations. Captain America is not keeping his word.”

Obviously the UFC wasn’t happy when Couture spoke about the pay structure in the UFC because now fighters who weren’t privy to that information before now are. The UFC was forced to bring out their CFO who then went over the numbers for Couture which is something that Dana White never wanted to do. The other part of this is that the UFC wants Couture to honor his contract and fight in the last two fights of his current contract which he signed last year.

It is believed that the UFC feels that Xtreme Couture’s team in the IFL is a violation of Couture’s contract, but it has never been said anywhere that Couture is coaching the team. The IFL’s Xtreme Couture will be debuting in the 2008 season which begins on February 29th in Las Vegas.
