Although it had already been speculated for weeks, Strikeforce officially announced that their second MMA promotion in 2009 will be held inside of the Scottrade Center in St. Louis, Missouri.

As expected, former EliteXC middleweight champ Robbie Lawler will be facing former EliteXC welterweight title holder Jake Shields at a catch-weight of 182 pounds.

Originally, it was announced that 205-pound Brazilian Rafael “Feijao” Cavalcante and Strikeforce light heavyweight champ Renato “Babalu” Sobral would be competing in the night’s event, but not against each other. It appears as though forum chatter got in the ears of Stikeforce brass, as the two will now square off in a 5Round affair as the night’s co-main event.

In addition, the card will also play host to a battle of the journeymen fighters, as Joe Riggs will meet Phil Baroni in a welterweight tilt.
