Almost immediately after the UFC caught wind that Dana White’s words rubbed some people the wrong way, he didn’t hesitate in issuing an apology to the GLAAD (Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation).
White’s malicious comments were directed towards Sherdog.com writer Loretta Hunt after she authored an article claiming that White recently restricted backstage access for managers and agents at UFC events. Hunt spoke with an anonymous agent that claimed it was White’s attempt to wedge himself between management and fighters.
Apparently, White didn’t take too kindly to Hunt, her secret source or the validity behind her story.
“Whoever gave you that quote is a p***y, and a f***ing fa**ot and a f***ing liar,” White angrily directed at Hunt.
The brash president has never shied away from using colorful language, even on nationally televised interviews, however this time he touched a nerve with a very sensitive, yet growing, demographic.
“I have no problem with the gay and lesbian community; I’m actually a supporter of many of their issues,” White sincerely stated. “The last thing that I would ever want anybody to think about me or think is cool is to go out and attack somebody because of their sexual orientation. That was not my intention, that’s not the way I said it, and I apologize for anybody that I offended or hurt.”
Although White apologized to the gay and lesbian community, he said nothing regarding Hunt.
