It is being reported that the light heavyweight match-up between Brandon Vera and Matt Hamill has been moved to UFC 102 on August 29th. The event is rumored to be taking place in Portland, Oregon.
MMAJunkie.com was notified by a source close to the situation about the change.
The two were initially slated to scrap at UFC 101 on August 8th in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, however it appears the organization prefers to bolster their first ever-event in the Pacific Northwest instead.
Hamill and Vera looked sharp earlier this month at UFC 96, as both emerged victorious in their fights against Mike Patt and Mark Munoz, respectively.
Vera desperately needed the “W” considering he had dropped three of his previous four fights. In addition, he put on an abysmal performance against a below-average Reese Andy in his only win during that stretch.
Although Hamill has a wrestling pedigree, he has made impressive strides in his striking skills. The three-time NCAA champion has finished via TKO in all but one of his six UFC victories. His most impressive was his last, where he landed a jaw-breaking head kick to Munoz’ dome.
