This weekend’s Spike TV broadcast of UFC 94 was tops in the key 18-49 demographic. Nearly two million fans tuned in to watch the replay of the highly anticipated welterweight scrap between champ Georges St-Pierre and BJ Penn.

Saturday’s re-aired event went head-to-head against “Strikeforce: Shamrock vs. Diaz.” Although the numbers for Strikeforce’s show are not currently available, it is highly unlikely that their live 2009 debut was able to match the 1.4 rating and 1.9 million viewers the UFC attained with their replay.

UFC 94 was originally held at the MGM Grand Garden Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada on January 31st. In the night’s main event, GSP dominated the undersized Penn for 20 convincing minutes.

Strikeforce’s first show of 2009 featured a 179-pound catch-weight bout between MMA veteran Frank Shamrock and Nick Diaz. Diaz schooled the 36-year-old for the majority of their contest, ultimately TKO’ing him in the 2ndRound.
