Well, if you can’t beat ’em, join ’em. The Dayton Daily News is reporting that former UFC middleweight champion Rich Franklin will be training with current champion Anderson Silva for his upcoming bout with Wanderlei Silva at UFC 99.
Most might question why Anderson would be willing to help his former foe prepare for Wanderlei, but with two convincing wins over Franklin already notched on his belt, Anderson knows the two will never be put inside the same cage again, so why not share a few secrets of the trade.
It is also clearly evident that the Silva’s are not too keen on each other after comments made by both sides regarding Wanderlei’s move down to the middleweight division.
Wanderlei and Franklin will headline UFC 99 at a catch-weight bout of 195 lbs. Wanderlei is planning to use the bout on June 13th to gauge his ability to succeed in the lighter weight class.
According to the report, Franklin’s camp declined to comment, but sources close to Anderson Silva did confirm the two would be training together in California.
