While appearing as a guest on today’s edition of The Jim Rome Show, UFC president Dana White accused Strikeforce brass of allowing Jason “Mayhem” Miller into the cage on Saturday night at “Strikeforce: Nashville,” prompting MMA’s biggest riot to go down on national television.
“Who let Mayhem Miller in there? He has no business being in there. You know what I believe?,” White asked host Jim Rome while putting on his Conspiracy Theorist hat. “Mayhem is saying that he didn’t, but I think Strikeforce let him in the cage to go in there and do that. These guys let Jake Shields’ contract run out.
“They basically bet on a fight and said ‘Dan Henderson is going to beat him easily. Oh my God, Dan Henderson lost and now we don’t have Jake Shields under contract. Mayhem, get in there and let’s challenge him and make it look like, you know, if he leaves, he’s running from Mayhem Miller.'”
After Shields successfully defended his middleweight crown against Henderson inside the Bridgestone Arena in Tennessee, “Mayhem” – the man Shields previously defeated to capture the open Strikeforce title back in November – rudely interrupted his celebratory speech to demand a rematch.
Apparently, that was all it took to ignite the biggest brawl in the sport’s history as all hell broke loose inside the cage – leaving Strikeforce brass with the unenviable task of cleaning up their “unnecessary” mess. However, if you ask White, he believes that it’s Stikeforce’s bed to make.
