Unbeaten Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu sensation Roger Gracie will make his long-awaited Strikeforce debut when he meets light heavyweight Kevin Randleman at “Strikeforce St. Louis: Heavy Artillery” on May 15th inside the Scottrade Center in St. Louis, Mo.
Dream Grand Prix tournament runner up Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza will collide with hard-hitting sensation Joey Villasenor in another televised bout.
The 6-foot-4 Gracie’s submission skills have proven their worth thus far. In his pro debut on December 2006, he forced Ron Waterman to tap from an armbar, then then followed that up by submitting Japan’s Yuki Kondo with a rear naked choke.
At age 38, Randleman will attempt to re-enter the win column after two consecutive defeats. Randleman captured back-to-back NCAA Division I national wrestling titles at Ohio State University.
Two years ago, Souza made a brilliant run to the championship round of Deam’s Grand Prix middleweight tourney. After submitting Ian Murphy with a rear naked choke in the 1stRound of their opening tournament round matchup, Souza went on to earn a unanimous decision over the controversial Jason “Mayhem” Miller.
He then submitted Zelg Galesic with an armbar, only to lose in the finals to Gegard Mousasi.
Villasenor is a seasoned striker that’s riding a four fight win streak. He produced his last victory, a split decision over Evangelista “Cyborg” Santos, during his Strikeforce debut at ShoWare in June 12009.
