While phoning into Setanta Sport’s Ultimate Talk, UFC president Dana White has once again confirmed that former UFC light heavyweight champion Chuck “The Iceman” Liddell will never fight again. “We have definitely seen the last of Chuck Liddell. That was his last fight,” White confirmed.

After losing three out of his last four fights, White had made it a forgone conclusion that Liddell would BE retired if he couldn’t get past Mauricio Rua at UFC 97. Unfortunately for Liddell and his fans, Rua was just too much for the 39-year old fighter.

White did cave in the last time he wanted Liddell to retire saying, “I wanted him to retire after the Rashad Evans fight, but he flew out to see me and he told me he was going deep into training – he said ‘give me this shot’.”

“I love him and I don’t want to see him fight anymore,” White reiterated about his long-time friend.

White did say the fight went the way Liddell wanted, throwing punches like he had always done, but he just got caught.

“He went out the way he wanted to go out,” White said before the segment ended.
