Former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Tito Ortiz confirmed on Monday that he has accepted the UFC’s offer to fight Lyoto Machida. The fight is scheduled to take place May 24th at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. Nothing definite is confirmed by the UFC, but if this fight does happen on this date, it will help headline the BJ Penn vs. Sean Sherk bout for the Lightweight title at UFC 85. This fight was initially offered and accepted by Machida earlier this month, Ortiz finally confirmed accepting the fight today on Fight Network Radio.
Machida will be taking his perfect 12-0 record into the Octagon the UFC veteran, who is believed to be in the final fight of his UFC contract.
Machida is coming of an impressive win over Reameau Sokoudjou at UFC 79, while Ortiz was busy competing on NBC’s reality show, Celebrity Apprentice.
